Every day, young Africans — full of promise — set out on perilous journeys through deserts, across the Mediterranean, and into uncertain futures in Europe. Driven by desperation, not always choice, they risk their lives chasing opportunities they believe don’t exist at home.
This is not just a migration crisis. It is a crisis of lost potential.
Sub-Saharan Africa holds the world’s youngest population — a rising generation with the talent, energy, and ambition to transform the continent. But without access to meaningful opportunities, entrepreneurship, or pathways to dignified work, too many see migration as their only option
We’re here to change that.
We exist to reduce the need for dangerous migration by equipping young people to build their futures at home. Through skills development, enterprise support, and mentorship, we help youth create livelihoods rooted in their own communities — making their villages, towns, and cities places of promise, not departure.
Because the future of Africa shouldn’t float in boats across the Channel. It should be built — boldly, locally, and sustainably — by those who call it home.

Our Mission
Sub-Saharan Africa is home to over 70% of the world’s fastest-growing youth population, with more than 60% of its people under the age of 25. Yet, every year, tens of thousands of young people leave the continent — not because they want to, but because they feel they have no future where they are.
At The Better Futures Foundation, our mission is to design and deliver effective, evidence-based solutions that give young people real prospects — and a reason to stay. By improving livelihoods, expanding access to skills, and promoting dignity through work, we aim to reverse the tide of forced migration and unlock Africa’s demographic dividend.
We work in close collaboration with governments, philanthropy, and the private sector to develop scalable, sustainable interventions that alleviate poverty, strengthen communities, and build a future worth staying for — right at home.

A continent where youth are skilled, empowered, and proud to build their futures at home — not forced to risk their lives in search of opportunity elsewhere.
We are working to create a thriving generation of educated, entrepreneurial, and resilient young Africans who become the architects of peace, prosperity, and progress in their own communities. By investing in people, we believe we can reshape the future of the continent — one where stability replaces struggle, knowledge replaces desperation, and hope replaces exile.
