Many African youth struggle to find meaningful employment. A critical way to reduce poverty and promote stability is through job-rich economic growth that produces decent work for all.
Our Career Café
Objective
Many African youth struggle to find meaningful employment even after they have completed degree courses. We will work hard to provide disenfranchised Cameroonian youth (ages 18-35) the skills, assets, environment and support they need to compete and succeed in whatever they do. The cafe will also emphasise job skills and access to financial services.
Approach
Through our partners and through local industries we will enhance employment opportunities and overall youth workforce competitiveness through skills which they will gain by working in the café.
Unlike similar people of working age in the west, for many of these youths and adults this will without a doubt their first time job. It will be run by them and the items sold would be locally produced.
They will also be provided a wage for their work. We would like the space to be creative, informative and will be organising events with guests and some of our corporate partners who can mentor and inspire them. We hope that some of our corporate partners can also come and volunteer to raise awareness on the issue of migration.
Impact
They will have added confidence and feel that they too are playing an important role in society. We will aim to connect them our partners and sponsors and ensure that they have access to information about relevant job opportunities, internships and training opportunities.
We feel that this is form a part of a good method to reduce poverty and promote overall wellbeing for many.
